RIP, dear friend,

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Adair, who died at the age of 84.

Ian was a cherished friend, an outstanding performer, author and inventor of magic  He passed away on 14th January 2025 in Barnstaple, England, leaving behind his legacy of an abundance of creativity and contribution to the art of magic.

Born on 20th December 1940, Ian was known for his innumerable contributions, achievements and accolades in the art of magic. For a more complete chronicling of his many, many achievements just check

We at Funtime were privileged to have marketed over 100 of his creations, more than any magic service after his departure from the Supreme Magic Company. In fact, we were in the process of releasing two more of his offbeat creations when we received the sad news of his passing away.

We had the privilege of corresponding with him almost every other day for over 20 years, where Ian sent us 10 times more of his ideas than we could possibly produce.

In his last letter (email) of 7th January 2025 he had written
On Jan 15th I will be admitted into hospital for an operation..not looking forward to this, but it is necessary.”

and in my reply a day before the operation I had mentioned “Trust everything will go smoothly with your operation, and you will be back to your usual self at the earliest. My sincere wishes for a speedy recovery.“Little did I know this was not fated to be.

You will be greatly missed, my friend but never forgotten. May your soul rest in peace. as you join the brightest stars in the History of Magic.
